Corfu - Panorama & Seventh Heaven Cafe - Corfu
George........Spiros
Dimitris
is very much a Greek gentleman. He is concerned about everything.
He and his sons over many years have created a restaurant that has
a character and quality of it's own with one of the most beautiful views
on earth, especially as the sun goes down. He loves 'babies milk'.
Ouzo and water to you and me. Dimitis is very much into signs.
Nafsika
is one of those behind the scenes. A lovely lady who always
smiles. I have experienced Nafsika's cooking and her vegitable
soup is something that should not be missed. Her Kalimari (squid), served
with pasta was the first that we can honestly say we enjoyed. You have
to be pretty quick with your fork though, little devils can really move.
Nafsika also makes very nice meat balls.
Spiros has a sense of humour that fits mine perfectly. Yes Spiros
that speaker did hurt - but not as much as it hurt that poor German
tourist a few minutes before me. I did not know that '**** IT' was German.
Spiros now has his own workshop. A place for everything and
everything in it's place. He used to like pebbles but not taramasolata
and he makes very good milk shakes, doesn't he George?
Spiros is also the head waiter, not that you ever have to wait.
George looks after the Seventh Heaven Cafe. After spending 6 months
in Liverpool the knows the English quite well. Many of the photographs are
his, well - all of the good ones are. He spends most of his winter days
looking for tools he borrowed from Spiros and dreaming about sausages,
mash and Bisto gravy.
George's speciality of course is his cocktails. My favourite has to be
The Sunset Cocktail, closely followed by the B52. There are plenty of
cocktails to choose from including Tequila Sunrise, Pina Colada, White
Lady, Margarita, Seventh Heaven, etc. It is quite an experience to
become a 'taster' at one of George's sessions, the bar should be fitted
with grab rails though.
